Most American mahjong sets are either beige and businesslike or so loud you only bring them out once. This one is neither. The tiles are white with a deep green base that fades up through the acrylic, and the dots are cut like tiny emeralds, so a finished wall on the table looks like a garden hedge.

The artwork is where it gets personal. Instead of generic suits, you get hand-illustrated botanicals: mushrooms, garden lanterns, wildflower bouquets, herb wreaths, a bottle of something green. Every joker is its own little illustration, which means you start noticing the tiles instead of just playing them.
